Founder & CEO
Stephanie’s lifelong passion has been fitness. As a young girl, one of her favorite activities was putting on her neon leotard and “Sweating to the Oldies” with Richard Simmons.
Denise Austin was one of her original inspirations and she woke up early many an morning to workout with Denise via her Lifetime, Television for Woman, workout series. Being that she was raised in a unique, religion focused environment where playing sports and being on teams was not allowed, working out at home was one thing she could do that made her so happy. Years later, around age 21, Stephanie started developing chronic, debilitating back pain that would increase in frequency and intensity over the next 15 years. She was finally diagnosed with a degenerate Autoimmune Disease that attacks the spine, called Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS).There were times she simply could not workout, let alone walk, without agonizing pain.
Fortunately, one of the best thing reduce AS flare ups are movement and stretching. Stephanie’s approach to fitness began with her own journey – trying to navigate around her limitations to maintain her strength, while not adding insult to injury or making matters worse. Her motto is just because you can does not mean you should.
Stephanie began her career with amazing mentors at a local, Small Group based Functional Training Studio where she learned the biomechanics of movement, proper form, and how to appropriately assess clients movement patterns. She then went out on her own at a large box gym and quickly became their Director of Training where she built a heavy schedule of clientele, trained incoming trainers on how to conduct small group training sessions, and significantly increased the Personal Training department revenue.
She assisted in opening two successful gyms in town, before having COVID hit. She decided to leave her most recent position as Studio Manager of a large Corporate class based gym, to stick close to home with her two girls while they attended school Virtually. She developed an online option for Small Group classes via zoom, with both existing Personal Training clients and more. Once the green light was given to open gyms outdoors, she welcomed clients back in to her beautifully designed home gym, Studio Santa Cruz. The Studio grew rapidly before she was having to turn people away on a daily basis. She was busting at the seams and knew she needed to finally take the next step.
From then Studio Impact was born and she’s not looked back since.
Stephanie is a single Mother of two beautiful daughters. She has been certified through NESTA, ACE, NASM and ISSA. She’s attended over 11 years of Perform Better Functional Training Seminars, as well as multiple TRX, DVRT and Kettlebell workshops and certification programs.
